Canine Unit

The Pikeville Police Department is assisted by our K9 Unit which is assigned to our Patrol Division. The unit consist of a handler, Officer F.T. Smith and canine, Narco. The unit recieved their formal Basic Handler Course in early 2024 through East Coast Canine and Edgecombe Community College. The unit works alongside other officers of the department as well as assist outside agencies upon request.

Narco is a dual purpose German Shepard trained in apprehension, tracking, article search and narcotic detection.
