Board Approved of New Playground for Dees Memorial Park

After several months of ongoing discussion, the Board of Commissioners approved a new playground to be installed at Dees Memorial Park. The park will feature equipment for all ages as half the park will be focused on ages 2-5 and the other half 5-12 year olds with plenty of space for everyone. The surface of the new playground will be the firm rubberized surface to ensure access for all. The playground will cost just over $300,000 with funding coming from the remaining money of the legislative grant received in 2023 and the town's fund balance. The Mayor and Commissioners wanted to invest in the town for generations to come. Over the last 4 years, the town has worked hard to cut any wasteful spending while making good investment of town funds which made something like this playground even possible. The expected timeline for this project is completion by midsummer of this year. We will update along the way.
